A Proclamation

Whereas, the State of North Carolina encourages employees and citizens to raise safety awareness across the state to uphold an effort to stop work-related fatalities and injuries; and

Whereas, the daily demonstration of safety and health behaviors and habits can reduce the risk of injuries in the workplace; and

Whereas, National Safety Month, observed each June, emphasizes the importance of ongoing education to help individuals stay safe and healthy throughout their lifetime; and

Whereas, providing safety and health resources and information contributes to the reduction of workplace injuries and supports the goals of all state agencies to protect the health and safety of our residents and employees; and

Whereas, comprehensive and ongoing risk management efforts at workplaces promote hazard reduction and avoidance of many injuries and illnesses; and

Whereas, ensuring the safety and health of state employees is the responsibility of each state agency and university; every agency and university should actively promote efforts to recognize and alleviate unsafe workplace conditions; and

Whereas, workplace safety and health surveys, training programs, and safety committees within agencies and universities encourage ongoing and proactive employee engagement in hazard identification, mitigation, and risk management; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina is committed to fostering hazard awareness through our safety and health-related programs and urging all North Carolinians to participate in similar efforts to reduce preventable injuries and illnesses in the workplace;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim June 2025, as “Safety Awareness Month” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.

                                                              

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
