Governor Proclaims School Principal Appreciation Day 2024

SCHOOL PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION DAY

2024

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, school principals are administrators who oversee all school operations and activities; and

WHEREAS, school principals are specifically trained and qualified to lead schools by recruiting, supporting, and retaining teachers and other school staff, providing a safe and productive learning environment for students, communicating with parents and the public, and setting and overseeing academic goals; and

WHEREAS, school principals play a pivotal role in student success, with a direct connection between school leadership and student achievement; and

WHEREAS, school principals create a positive culture and environment conducive to learning; and

WHEREAS, Governor Cooper has proclaimed 2024 the “Year of Public Schools,” underscoring their importance in society, and recognizing that school leaders play a critical role in student success; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina is proud to recognize the importance of school principals in our schools and commends the school principals throughout our state who are working to support our children;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2024, as “SCHOOL PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
