WHEREAS, the Charlotte Pancreatic Cancer Alliance, in conjunction with fellow members of the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition, are delivering the message of hope and awareness on November 18 as World Pancreatic Cancer Day; and
WHEREAS, these organizations are working together as a global collaboration that amplifies their voices and raises awareness of pancreatic cancer to save lives; and
WHEREAS, increased awareness of pancreatic cancer is of utmost importance since it the currently the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States; and
WHEREAS, as of right now there is no standard diagnostic tool or established early detection for pancreatic cancer; and
WHEREAS, the good health and well-being of the residents of North Carolina are enhanced as a direct result of increased awareness about the symptoms and risks of pancreatic cancer, and collaborative research into early detection, causes, and effective treatments;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY COOPER, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2021, as “WORLD PANCREATIC CANCER DAY” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
