Career Exploration And Workforce Readiness Month
2026
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, North Carolina’s workforce is the backbone of our state’s economy, and ensuring that all residents have access to the tools and resources they need to pursue meaningful, in-demand careers is essential to the prosperity of every community; and
Whereas, the start of a new academic year across North Carolina provides an important opportunity for students, jobseekers, and working adults to reflect on their career goals and take meaningful steps toward their futures; and
Whereas, NCcareers.org is a free, statewide career exploration and planning platform that empowers North Carolinians to achieve career success by providing high-quality resources on occupations, educational pathways, and employment training for youth and working adults; and
Whereas, for more than six years, NCcareers.org has grown into a trusted statewide resource for career exploration, labor market insights, and education and training opportunities; and
Whereas, NCcareers.org has served millions of North Carolinians, helping students, jobseekers, and working adults explore career pathways, assess their interests and skills, and align their goals with statewide and local labor market data; and
Whereas, North Carolina’s Career Development Plan legislation requires middle and high school students to complete a career development plan; and NCcareers.org is the most widely used resource to help students and educators meet this requirement; and
Whereas, NCcareers.org strengthens NCWorks, the state’s workforce development system, by equipping workforce professionals with tools to guide participants toward informed career decisions and by connecting users to current job opportunities through NCWorks Online; and
Whereas, NCcareers.org advances the goals of the Governor’s Council on Workforce and Apprenticeships by increasing awareness of industry-recognized credentials, work-based learning opportunities, and workforce development programs;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 2026 as “Career Exploration And Workforce Readiness Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-seventh day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
