Chronic Disease Day

2026

By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina

A Proclamation

Whereas, chronic disease affects three in four Americans, including millions of North Carolina residents and more than 194 million people throughout the United States; and

Whereas, patients with chronic diseases want providers and treatments that will restore their ability to work, care for their families, and live independent lives of purpose; and

Whereas, much public and private sector work needs to be done to research, diagnose and treat both rare and common chronic conditions; and

Whereas, at a time when new treatments and innovation are capable of saving and extending life, patients are struggling to afford basic services and medications; and

Whereas, the cost of health care continues to rise across the country, reducing access to life-enhancing and life-saving care; and

Whereas, Chronic Disease Day increases understanding, advocating for patient-first health care and helping patients advocate for themselves in our state and throughout the United States;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim July 10, 2026, as “Chronic Disease Day” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-third day of June in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
