A Proclamation

Whereas, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Technology Education are essential to innovation, economic growth, and workforce readiness in North Carolina, with computing technology embedded in nearly every aspect of modern life; and

Whereas, computer science underpins North Carolina’s information technology sector, contributing significantly to the state’s and the nation’s economic output, with strong job growth projected across these fields; and

Whereas, artificial intelligence (AI) represents a rapidly growing area of computer science, and AI literacy equips learners with the knowledge, durable skills, and critical awareness needed to engage with, create with, and shape AI responsibly; and

Whereas, expanding access to high-quality computer science and AI education ensures that all students can develop problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and leadership skills that prepare them for success in college, careers, and civic life; and

Whereas, initiatives such as Computer Science Education Week and the global Hour of AI inspire students, educators, and communities to explore these fields, transforming learners from consumers of technology into thoughtful creators and innovators; and

Whereas, North Carolina, through the leadership of the Stein Administration and broad collaboration among schools, universities, business leaders, and policymakers, is committed to strengthening computer science and AI education to sustain the state’s competitiveness, security, and future prosperity;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim December 8 – 12, 2025, as Computer Science, IT, And Technology Education Weekin North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.
