A Proclamation

Whereas, more than 3,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) work in North Carolina; and

Whereas, six master’s- and doctoral-level nurse anesthesia programs are offered in North Carolina: Carolinas Medical Center/University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Duke University, East Carolina University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and Western Carolina University; and

Whereas, CRNAs are dedicated providers of high-quality, value-directed anesthesia care accessible to patients across North Carolina and are essential to North Carolina’s health infrastructure, providing anesthesia care throughout the state’s rural and critical access hospitals, ensuring residents have access to surgical and anesthesia services close to home; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina honors those CRNAs who are veterans and active-duty members of our armed forces, providing anesthesia care for our United States military personnel on the front lines, on Navy ships, and on aircraft evacuation teams across the globe; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina joins in celebrating CRNA Week and commends the more than 59,000 CRNAs across our nation for their commitment to patient access and excellent anesthesia care;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim January 18 – 24, 2026, as CRNA Weekin North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
