A Proclamation

Whereas, first responders across North Carolina – including law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and emergency communications professionals – answer the call every day to protect lives, property, and public safety; and 

Whereas, residents and visitors in North Carolina rely on first responders during medical emergencies, fires, accidents, and other critical incidents; and 

Whereas, these dedicated professionals serve with courage, skill, and selflessness, often placing themselves in harm’s way for the welfare of others; and 

Whereas, the Greater Raleigh Chamber is hosting its annual First Responders Appreciation Breakfast on September 10, 2026, at North Ridge Country Club to recognize and honor these public servants; and 

Whereas, seven agencies serving Raleigh and Wake County will be recognized at this event: Raleigh Police Department, North Carolina State Capitol Police, City of Raleigh Fire Department, Wake County Emergency Medical Services, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Raleigh-Wake County Emergency Communications Center, and North Carolina Highway Patrol; and 

Whereas, a portion of the proceeds from this breakfast will benefit the 200 Club of Wake County, an organization dedicated to providing immediate financial assistance to the families of first responders who lose their lives in the line of duty; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper to recognize first responders throughout Raleigh, Wake County, and North Carolina for their unwavering commitment to public service and the safety of our communities;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 2026 as “First Responders Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-seventh day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
