Gifted And Talented Education Awareness Week

2026

By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina

A Proclamation

Whereas, the economic prosperity of North Carolina depends on developing the gifts and talents in all students, including its brightest and most talented students; and

Whereas, talents are present in children and youth from all cultural groups, across all economic levels, and in all areas of human endeavor; and

Whereas, we must challenge our high-ability students to ensure they realize their full potential if our nation is to remain competitive in a global society; and

Whereas, North Carolina encourages and supports its top-performing students to become future leaders in mathematics, science, writing, politics, dance, art, business, history, health, and other pursuits; and

Whereas, all students, including gifted ones, develop to their full potential only when their special strengths are identified and supported through appropriately differentiated educational experiences;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim March 8 – 14, 2026, as “Gifted And Talented Education Awareness Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-fifth day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
