A Proclamation

Whereas, health care security and safety officers play important roles in North Carolina’s health care system; and

Whereas, health care security and safety officers are tasked with protecting those who work, visit, or receive treatment in health care facilities and serve as the first responders to security, safety, and criminal incidents; and

Whereas, the professionalism of health care security and safety officers is customized and adaptable to the diverse and evolving health care security needs of the residents of North Carolina; and

Whereas, the demand for health care security and safety services is rising because of increased violence against health care professionals, frequency of criminal acts in the health care setting, and a growing population of vulnerable citizens using health care facilities; and

Whereas, health care security and safety are important aspects of ensuring optimal quality of care for all patients and professionals, and these officers are an integral part of the health care system;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 12 – 18, 2025, as Health Care Security And Safety Weekin North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.
