A Proclamation

Whereas, health care security and safety officers play an important role in North Carolinas health profession; and

Whereas, health care security and safety officers are tasked with protecting those who work, visit, or receive treatment in a health care facility and serve as the first responders to security, safety, and criminal incidents; and

Whereas, the professionalism of health care security and safety officers is customized and adaptable to keep the people North Carolina safe in a health care setting; and

Whereas, the demand for health care security and safety services is rising because of increased violence against health care professionals, frequency of criminal acts in the health care setting, and a growing population of vulnerable citizens using health care facilities; and

Whereas, health care security and safety are critical to quality of care for all patients and professionals, and these officers are an integral part of the health care system;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 11 – 17, 2026, as “Health Care Security And Safety Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance.
