Medical Laboratory Professionals' Week

2026

By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina

A Proclamation

Whereas, the health and well-being of North Carolinians relies on prompt, precise laboratory results that guide critical medical decisions and support the detection and prevention of disease; and

Whereas, the level of care we expect in modern medicine would not be possible without the countless scientific analyses performed each day in medical laboratories across our state; and

Whereas, laboratory professionals, including pathologists, medical laboratory scientists, cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and histologic technicians are highly skilled experts who conduct and interpret tests essential to identifying illness, informing diagnoses, and tracking treatment; and

Whereas, dedicated laboratory practitioners in public health, health care systems, independent labs, and research settings uphold rigorous standards and continuously strive to advance the quality of laboratory services; and

Whereas, the ability to detect emerging and reemerging infectious threats underscores the indispensable role laboratory professionals play in safeguarding public health during emergencies; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina benefits from the substantial contributions that medical laboratory professionals make to the health of our communities;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 19 – 25, 2026, as “Medical Laboratory Professionals' Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-third day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
