NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH
2026
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
A PROCLAMATION
Whereas, North Carolina proudly recognizes the contributions of volunteer mentors who guide young people to success in their educational, career, and leadership development opportunities and overall well-being; and
Whereas, mentoring programs make our state and communities stronger by driving meaningful relationships that increase connections and collaborations for young people and provide invaluable support networks; and
Whereas, mentoring programs across the state, including youth-led and service-learning organizations such as Youth Ambassadors of Service, have stepped up to fill gaps for young people and families by connecting them with resources, skills, and opportunities to lead; and
Whereas, mentoring plays a pivotal role in career exploration and workforce development by helping young people set goals and build real-world skills through service and by equipping mentors with the tools needed to support professional and civic growth across North Carolina; and
Whereas, National Mentoring Month is an opportunity to celebrate mentoring across our state, elevate the work of mentoring organizations and volunteer mentors, and recruit caring adults and near-peer mentors to support young people as present-day leaders who are shaping the future of North Carolina;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim January 2026 as “National Mentoring Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twelfth day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
