A Proclamation

Whereas, craft breweries are flourishing across North Carolina, with more than 400 independent breweries and brewpubs to be found in every corner of the state, ranking the Tar Heel State as a top 10 craft beer state in the nation; and

Whereas, the annual economic impact of North Carolina craft beer is approximately $2.1 billion and supports more than 18,000 jobs in the state; and

Whereas, brewery taprooms, festivals, and other craft beer events in North Carolina have demonstrated the ability to attract visitors from across the state and country, thereby making craft beer an important element of tourism in North Carolina; and

Whereas, North Carolina’s craft beer industry reflects the state’s rich agricultural heritage, demonstrated by national recognition for beers using a wide range of North Carolina farmed and foraged products, including barley, sweet potatoes, oysters, persimmons, and more; and

Whereas, craft beer from more than 40 North Carolina breweries is served to visitors at the NC Public House attraction at the North Carolina State Fair, further demonstrating our industry’s commitment to and partnership with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture; and

Whereas, the safe and welcoming nature of North Carolina’s brewery taprooms provides community gathering spaces that make positive differences in our cities, towns, and communities while driving economic development; and

Whereas, a month-long celebration of North Carolina’s exceptional beer craftsmanship and the destinations where it thrives will raise the state’s profile to its rightful place in a highly competitive landscape; and

Whereas, craft beer tastes good;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 2025 as “North Carolina Beer Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-third day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
