North Carolina Cider Month
2025
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, North Carolina ranks seventh in the nation in apple production, with North Carolina growers working to preserve more than 400 heirloom varietals, many with histories dating to the founding of our state and nation; and
Whereas, North Carolina has seen robust growth of a cider industry founded on the agricultural success of our apple industry, now producing more than a million gallons of hard cider per year; and
Whereas, North Carolina ciders have been recognized with awards for quality at state, national, and international competitions, regularly placing our ciders among the best in the nation; and
Whereas, the agricultural basis of our apple and hard cider economies significantly enhances North Carolina by providing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue to support state initiatives; and
Whereas, North Carolina Cider Month serves as a time to honor and celebrate the industry, creativity, and dedication of our state’s farmers and cider makers, whose passion and expertise enrich our lives and communities, and to educate the public about this portion of our agricultural heritage;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 2025 as “North Carolina Cider Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-third day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
