By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, North Carolina ranks seventh in the nation in apple production, with North Carlina growers working to preserve more than 400 heirloom varietals, many with histories dating to the founding of our state and nation; and
Whereas, North Carolina has seen robust growth of its cider industry founded on the agricultural success of our state’s apple industry and continues to produce thousands of gallons of hard cider per year; and
Whereas, North Carolina ciders have been recognized with awards for quality at state, national, and international competitions, regularly placing North Carolina ciders among the best in the nation; and
Whereas, the agricultural basis of our apple and hard cider economies significantly enhances North Carolina by providing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue; and
Whereas, North Carolina Cider Month serves as a time to honor and celebrate the industry, creativity, and dedication of our state’s farmers and cidermakers, whose passion and expertise enrich North Carolina lives and communities, and to educate the public about this critical portion of our agricultural heritage;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 2026 as “North Carolina Cider Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-fifth day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
