A Proclamation

Whereas, community health workers play a vital role in advancing access to quality health care for all North Carolina communities by providing comprehensive care, along with culturally and linguistically appropriate health education, outreach, and support services; and

Whereas, the last week of August is designated National Community Health Worker Awareness Week, recognizing the contributions and dedication of community health workers across the nation in improving the health and well-being of individuals and families; and

Whereas, North Carolina recognizes the significant impact of community health workers in advancing public health initiatives, reducing health care costs, and improving health outcomes, particularly among underserved and marginalized populations; and

Whereas, Community Health Worker Awareness Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the invaluable role that community health workers play in connecting individuals and families to health care services, resources, and information, ultimately strengthening the fabric of our communities; and

Whereas, through efforts led by the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association in collaboration with health care providers, community organizations, and government agencies, community health workers in North Carolina foster partnerships and initiatives that enhance access to quality health care and promote health literacy among diverse populations; and

Whereas, by proclaiming the last week of August as Community Health Worker Awareness Week in North Carolina, we honor and celebrate the dedication, compassion, and commitment of our more than 1,350 certified community health workers in empowering individuals and communities to lead healthier lives and build a brighter future for all;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim August 25 – 29, 2025, as North Carolina Community Health Worker Awareness Weekin North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.
