Whereas, Blue Star Families has joined with the National Governors Association to launch the Do Your Part initiative; and

Whereas, as part of the Do Your Part initiative, states are committing to identifying, prioritizing, and implementing the most effective policies and programs to enhance the well-being of military communities in an effort to lighten the load for military families and make it easier for service members to remain focused on their mission; and

Whereas, as Governor, I am committed to supporting the Blue Star families who live in North Carolina, which is important not only as recognition of their service and sacrifice but also as essential support for military recruiting and readiness; and

Whereas, as Governor, I am committed to supporting our military families, including through policies and programs highlighted by the Do Your Part initiative, such as those that enhance family life, help spouses find jobs, provide caregivers with essential peer support, and connect families with their civilian neighbors to build strong communities across North Carolina; and

Whereas, we honor the selflessness and service of our military and veteran families, and encourage North Carolinians to continue to welcome and embrace our military-connected families into our communities;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim North Carolina as a “Do Your Part State” and commend this observance to all citizens.
