A Proclamation
Whereas, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission has designated August 11, 2026, as National Poll Worker Recruitment Day to promote civic participation and to recognize the essential role poll workers play in conducting secure, accessible, and transparent elections; and
Whereas, dedicated residents from diverse backgrounds serve as poll workers in communities across our state and nation, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a shared commitment to upholding free and fair elections; and
Whereas, the veterans and military families of our state exemplify a lifelong commitment to service, continuing to strengthen their communities beyond military service by supporting the administration of elections and protecting every citizen's right to vote; and
Whereas, Vet the Vote, a national initiative of We the Veterans and Military Families, advances this tradition of service by partnering with election officials and civic organizations nationwide to recruit and highlight 250,000 veterans and military family members to serve as poll workers in honor of America's 250th anniversary;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim August 11, 2026, as “North Carolina Election Official Recruitment Day” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all residents.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this eleventh day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
