Oxford House Month
2026
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, Oxford House Incorporated is a nonprofit organization with an international network of recovery homes for persons recovering from substance use disorders; and
Whereas, the philosophy behind Oxford House is threefold: self-help is the bedrock of recovery, disciplined democracy is the key to living together, and self-support builds efficacy in sobriety comfortably enough to avoid recurrence of use; and
Whereas, as of February 2026, more than 330 Oxford Houses serve men and women in North Carolina, providing more than 2,500 recovery beds; these houses are part of a network for more than 4,000 Oxford Houses nationally; and
Whereas, in 2026 Oxford House will celebrate its 35th year of successful operations in North Carolina, providing services and rehabilitative support in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Human Services; and
Whereas, the State of North Carolina commends Oxford House for its ongoing commitment to supporting people in long-term recovery from substance use disorders;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim May 2026 as “Oxford House Month” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-seventh day of April in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
