A Proclamation
Whereas, community supervision professionals collaborate every day with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to keep our communities safe; and
Whereas, community supervision professionals play a critical role in helping the formerly incarcerated and those involved with the justice system successfully complete their supervision; and
Whereas, community supervision professionals answer the call to assist during times of community need, such as hurricanes and floods; and
Whereas, community supervision professionals work with community agencies every day to secure resources, support, and assistance to people on probation, parole, and post-release supervision; and
Whereas, more than 2,000 certified probation/parole officers serve the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and supervise the approximately 84,000 justice-involved individuals across our state; and
Whereas, North Carolina’s community supervision officers and those across the nation, have made the vital commitment to make positive changes in their communities with their dedication, perseverance, and training;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim July 20-26, 2025, as “Probation, Parole And Community Supervision Officers’ Week” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this ninth day of July in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
