A Proclamation

Whereas, community supervision professionals collaborate every day with their law enforcement partners to help build safer communities and help reduce recidivism; and 

Whereas, community supervision professionals play critical roles in helping those involved with the justice system successfully complete their supervision and secure the resources and assistance they need to succeed in their communities; and 

Whereas, community supervision professionals always stand ready to provide community assistance and support in times of need; and 

Whereas, community supervision professionals work with community agencies every day to secure resources, support, and assistance for people on probation, parole, and post-release supervision; and 

Whereas, approximately 2,000 certified probation/parole officers serve the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and supervise the approximately 75,000 justice-involved individuals in our state; and 

Whereas, North Carolina’s community supervision officers and those throughout the nation have made the vital commitment to make positive changes in their communities with their dedication, perseverance, and training;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim July 19 – 25, 2026, as “Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Officers’ Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
