A Proclamation

Whereas, Property and Evidence Professionals serve as the backbone of law enforcement and public safety agencies, ensuring the secure and accountable management of evidence and seized property; and

Whereas, these dedicated professionals play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the justice system by safeguarding critical evidence, preserving its chain of custody, and ensuring its availability for criminal investigations, court proceedings, and rightful return to its owners; and

Whereas, Property and Evidence Professionals exhibit the highest standards of ethics, attention to detail, and adherence to legal protocols, which are essential in upholding public trust and ensuring justice is served; and

Whereas, while their work often goes unrecognized, it remains essential to the mission of law enforcement and other public safety agencies, requiring both technical skill and unwavering dedication; and

Whereas, Property and Evidence Professionals contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of public safety, enabling law enforcement to focus on the protection of our communities while Property and Evidence Professionals manage the critical behind-the-scenes operations; and

Whereas, it is fitting that we recognize the outstanding contributions of these professionals who demonstrate excellence, commitment, and service to their agencies and the public;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim October 5 – 11, 2025, as “Property And Evidence Professionals Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this sixth day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
