Radiologic Technology Week
2026
By The Governor Of The State Of North Carolina
A Proclamation
Whereas, National Radiologic Technology Week is celebrated annually from November 8 to 14 in honor of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen’s discovery of the X-ray in 1895; and in 2026, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists recognizes this week to highlight the critical contributions of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals to patient care and safety; and
Whereas, while radiation continues to be a useful and necessary part of our medical world, radiation exposure can be harmful to people; and
Whereas, radiologic technologists serve as the eyes of medicine, providing essential diagnostic imaging – from identifying broken bones to detecting complex illnesses – and underpin accurate evaluation and treatment planning; and
Whereas, these professionals play vital roles in cancer care, supporting early detection, staging, and the development and delivery of radiation therapy treatment plans; and
Whereas, qualified practitioners who specialize in the use of medical radiation and imaging technology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease share a commitment to bring North Carolinians a safer, more compassionate environment now and in the future; and
Whereas, radiologic technologists in hospitals, clinics, and health care facilities across North Carolina strengthen the health care system through dedication, advanced technical skill, and commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence; and
Whereas, guided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Code of Ethics, radiologic technologists uphold the principle that all patients – regardless of socioeconomic background, life circumstances, or offender status – must receive care delivered with full respect for their dignity, without discrimination, and with compassion, confidentiality, and professional responsibility;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim November 8 – 14, 2026, as “Radiologic Technology Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-sixth day of October in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
