A Proclamation
Whereas, North Carolina’s valuable natural resources and diverse ecosystems are integral to the well-being of our great state, and the health, prosperity, and future of our people depend on the responsible care and protection of these resources; and
Whereas, Registered Environmental Health Specialists in North Carolina play an essential role in safeguarding public health, ensuring safe and healthy environments, and enhancing the overall quality of life in our communities; and
Whereas, Registered Environmental Health Specialists in North Carolina are dedicated to crucial work that includes food safety, decentralized wastewater management, safe drinking water, public swimming pools, childhood lead poisoning prevention, infectious disease control, and emergency preparedness and response; and
Whereas, World Environmental Health Day, observed on September 26, raises awareness of the biggest risks and issues in environmental health and sparks discussion on the measures people can take to protect the environment and ensure their safety from environmental threats; and
Whereas, the State of North Carolina recognizes and appreciates the significant contributions of Registered Environmental Health Specialists in enhancing the health and well-being of people, families, and communities throughout our great State;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 21 – 27, 2025, as “Registered Environmental Health Specialist Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-fifth day of August in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
