A Proclamation
Whereas, protecting public health and preserving the quality of North Carolina’s environment are essential to the safety, well-being, and prosperity of our State; and
Whereas, Registered Environmental Health Specialists play an important role in promoting healthy communities by identifying, preventing, and addressing environmental conditions that may affect public health; and
Whereas, these dedicated professionals help protect residents and visitors through programs that support safe food handling, proper wastewater management, drinking water protection, safe public swimming facilities, childhood lead poisoning prevention, communicable disease prevention, and emergency preparedness and response; and
Whereas, their work strengthens local public health systems and helps ensure that homes, businesses, and recreational spaces across North Carolina remain safe and healthy places to live, work, and visit; and
Whereas, World Environmental Health Day, observed each year on September 26, highlights the importance of environmental health and encourages awareness of the environmental factors that influence human health and safety; and
Whereas, the State of North Carolina recognizes the dedication and contributions of Registered Environmental Health Specialists and their commitment to protecting the health of our communities;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 20 – 26, 2026, as “Registered Environmental Health Specialist Week” in North Carolina and commend its observance.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
