Whereas, on July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate the semiquincentennial anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence; and
Whereas, the journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead to the future generations who will carry forward the ideals of democracy and individual liberty that make the United States a unique nation in the world community; and
Whereas, throughout the year 2026, North Carolina and the nation will commemorate 250 years of independence and encourage participation in community events and programs that promote patriotism, unity, and reflection on our collective history; and
Whereas, as we commemorate this significant milestone, Americans should work together in addressing the challenges of the 21st century and building a more just and prosperous society; and
Whereas, as the United States embarks on the next chapter of its history, this milestone celebration will stand as a testament to the strength, resilience, and patriotism of its people;
Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim July 4, 2026, as “In Recognition Of The 250th Anniversary Of American Independence” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-third day of June in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
