A Proclamation

Whereas, on September 11, 2001, our nation experienced a tragic and profound loss of life that forever changed the course of our history, and we honor the memory of those who perished and the bravery of the first responders who answered the call without hesitation; and

Whereas, in the days, months, and years that followed these attacks by terrorists, Americans came together in extraordinary unity, demonstrating resilience, compassion, and shared commitment to supporting one another in times of need; and

Whereas, we salute our first responders and all of those who unselfishly responded to the tragic events with courage and selfless determination to protect and save those who were present and to honor those who died during the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon; and

Whereas, the State of North Carolina continues to uphold these values through strong traditions of volunteerism, community service, and neighborly care that strengthen our towns, cities, and rural communities alike; and

Whereas, the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks provides an opportunity not only for reflection but also for action for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to engage in meaningful service that supports nonprofits, schools, and neighbors in need;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2026, as “In Recognition Of The 25th Anniversary Of 9/11” in North Carolina and commend its observance.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
