A Proclamation

Whereas, WUNC is a public media organization that informs and engages North Carolinians through journalism and culture and provides enriching, essential news and content of the highest quality and connects communities across North Carolina; and 

Whereas, WUNC content is heard, seen, and read by more than 329,000 people in North Carolina and beyond every week, and WUNC is committed to reflecting the communities it serves in the content it produces; and 

Whereas, April 3, 2026, marks 50 years since WUNC began broadcasting as an NPR member station; and for 50 years, WUNC has produced news reports, podcasts, and programs about issues of importance to North Carolinians on topics such as education, politics and government, the economy, the environment, health, and the arts; and 

Whereas, WUNC broadcasts national and international news and information programs from NPR, American Public Media, Public Radio Exchange, BBC, and independent producers, which help broaden listeners’ understanding of our country and the world;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 3, 2026, as “In Recognition Of The WUNC 50th Anniversary” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.

 

 

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-sixth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
