BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, paralegals are dedicated professionals who provide exceptional support to law firms, government entities, private and public corporations, and the public while maintaining a high degree of integrity and competence; and

WHEREAS, paralegals are qualified by education and training as well as demonstrated knowledge, skills and proficiency to perform legal work; paralegals in North Carolina uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism; and

WHEREAS, paralegals assist in the practice of law by conducting research, drafting essential documents, maintaining timely correspondence, and contributing their legal knowledge to the benefit of the profession and our state; and

WHEREAS, paralegals improve cost, efficiency, case management, client representation, and case flow and advance the legal profession through continued training and education; and

WHEREAS, Paralegal Day provides an opportunity to recognize paralegals for their skill and proficiency carrying out significant legal work under the lawful supervision of a licensed attorney; and

WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina commends paralegals and paralegal students for their ongoing contributions to the legal profession and their valuable legal support to the people of our state;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH STEIN, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim August 6, 2026, as “NORTH CAROLINA PARALEGAL DAY” in North Carolina and commend its observance to all residents.
