A Proclamation

Whereas, school counselors are employed in public and private schools to help students reach their full potential; and

Whereas, school counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and development; and

Whereas, school counselors work collaboratively with families to further the academic, career and social/emotional development of their children; and

Whereas, school counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential and set goals for themselves; and

Whereas, school counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become productive members of society; and

Whereas, comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational process that enables all students to achieve success in school; and

Whereas, increased investment in critical student services staff, including school counselors, is needed to support student well-being;

Now, Therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim February 3 – 7, 2025, as “National School Counseling Week” in North Carolina, and commend its observance to all citizens.

 

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this third day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-fifth and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.
