Today Governor Roy Cooper signed Executive Order 229. The Executive Order extends several provisions outlined in Executive Order 224 that direct the State Health Director to issue statewide standing orders for testing and vaccination. Additionally, this Order directs cabinet agencies to implement the COVID-19 vaccination and testing policy developed by the North Carolina Office of Human Resources (OSHR).
“As our state’s COVID-19 metrics continue to move in the wrong direction, it is important that we continue to do all we can to get people tested and vaccinated,” said Governor Cooper. “This order will help us do that and assist our Cabinet agencies in their efforts to keep employees safe.”
Executive Order 229 directs the State Health Director to issue statewide standing orders for COVID-19 testing and vaccination. These standing orders facilitate the administration of tests and vaccines around the state. Executive Order 229 also directs Cabinet agencies to continue to implement their testing and vaccination policy.
Governor Cooper also signed Executive Order 230 today, extending certain transportation-related waivers from previous executive orders. This Order grants regulatory relief for commercial motor vehicle operations that provide direct assistance in support of emergency relief efforts related to COVID-19.
