Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the State of North Carolina is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the murders of Jamaa Cassell, age 39; Christopher “CJ” Gleaton, 28; Dairyon Stevenson, 31; and Kelly Miller, 29.
“We must use every tool at our disposal to pursue justice for victims,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I urge North Carolinians who have information about this case to contact local law enforcement and help us hold the murderers accountable."
On June 22, 2020, hundreds of community members gathered in the 1800 block of Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte to celebrate Juneteenth. The celebration was violently disrupted when multiple shooters fired more than 150 rounds into the crowd. Three victims were killed by gunfire; the fourth victim was struck by a vehicle fleeing the scene.
