Nearly $30 million will go to fund 18 broadband infrastructure projects with a goal of connecting 15,965 households and 703 businesses in rural North Carolina to high-speed internet, Governor Cooper announced Thursday.

Five new projects will expand high-speed internet access for residents in three rural counties, Governor Roy Cooper announced today along with the N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) and its Broadband Infrastructure Office (BIO).

The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved 17 grant requests to local governments totaling $5,535,271, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.
