Today Governor Josh Stein signed two bills into law and vetoed one bill. 
Today Governor Josh Stein declared Tropical Storm Chantal a Type I State Disaster, which allows North Carolina to activate state-funded individual assistance grants for people affected by the storm. The Governor also urged President Trump and Acting FEMA Regional Administrator Robert Ashe to issue a Federal Major Disaster Declaration for Chantal to expedite federal aid in the disaster area and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) assistance statewide. 
Today Governor Josh Stein joined educators, students, and local officials at W.A. Pattillo Middle School in Tarboro to deliver school supplies collected by the Governor’s Office during the annual Governor’s School Supply Drive. As the legislature continues to fail to pass a comprehensive budget, the Governor highlighted the need for the General Assembly to raise teacher pay and invest in North Carolina’s students.  
Today, Governor Josh Stein and First Lady Anna Stein, along with members of the Governor’s Cabinet and other agency leaders, learned about life after incarceration when they participated in a reentry simulation organized by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). The simulation replicated the challenges people face as they transition back into society.
