Governor Cooper issued the following statement on the health care bill passed today in Washington by House Republicans:

 

In his budget proposal, Common Ground Solutions for North Carolina, Governor Roy Cooper proposed creating the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit to help middle class families afford high-quality child care.

Governor Cooper has nominated members to the State Board of Education. "Decisions made by the State Board of Education impact schools, students, teachers and families across North Carolina," Gov. Cooper said. "I'm pleased to nominate as members dedicated, experienced education leaders who know how critical quality public schools are to our state's future."

While floodwaters are beginning to recede in Goldsboro, Tarboro and Greenville, conditions in Kinston will continue to worsen through tomorrow, Governor Roy Cooper cautioned this morning.

In his budget proposal, Common Ground Solutions for North Carolina, Governor Cooper proposed adding $15 million to the Smart Start program, a public private partnership focused on early childhood health and education.

Governor Roy Cooper today named Frank Emory as chair of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.

Flood conditions are improving for many central North Carolina counties, but residents in several eastern communities need to continue closely monitoring river levels, Governor Roy Cooper cautioned today.
 
 

Governor Cooper has appointed three members to the North Carolina Utilities Commission.

In his budget proposal, Common Ground Solutions for North Carolina, Governor Cooper proposed the NC Getting Ready for Opportunities in the Workforce scholarship (NC GROW). The program is free community college that covers last dollar tuition and fees to any NC Community College for recent high school graduates who make a certain grade point average and who have exhausted other sources of financial aid.
