This week, Governor Josh Stein led a 51-person delegation to the Southeast United States (SEUS)/Japan Annual Joint Meeting in Tokyo, Japan, reaffirming North Carolina’s strong partnership with Japan and furthering the work to recruit more good-paying jobs to the state. North Carolina was the host southeastern state for the past two years. The delegation included Department of Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley, EDPNC CEO Christopher Chung, and North Carolina business leaders.  
Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the State of North Carolina will grant $10 million to local food banks across the state. The State is joined by AmeriHealth Caritas, which will give $5 million, The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation, which will accelerate $2.5 million from a previously announced $10 million gift, and other donors. These announcements come as food banks prepare for an influx of need following the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s decision to suspend the distribution of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November. 
Today Governor Josh Stein, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and North Carolina State University announced what is arguably the most important dinosaur discovery of the decade – definitive proof of a new tyrannosaur species coexisting with T. rex, a speedy and agile creature called Nanotyrannus.

Governor Josh Stein announced today that Pacific Life, the Fortune 500 insurance company, will open a new office and create 301 jobs in Charlotte. The company will invest $12.3 million in Mecklenburg County to strategically expand its business operations. 
Today Governor Josh Stein announced BorgWarner Inc., a U.S.-based global mobility solutions company, is expected to create 193 jobs in Henderson County. The company says it will invest a minimum of $74.9 million to build an advanced manufacturing facility for a new industrial product in Hendersonville. This investment further strengthens North Carolina’s automotive supply chain.  
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services today announced the November benefits for the 1.4 million North Carolinians who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be delayed if the federal government shutdown continues.

Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has released additional funds to help North Carolinians get back to work in areas affected by Hurricane Helene.The new funds, totaling $4 million, represent the remaining portion of a $10 million Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant that the U.S. Department of Labor initially awarded to North Carolina in 2024 in the wake of Helene. The funds were part of an original request from the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) in October 2024.
