Green New Energy Materials, Inc., an experienced manufacturer of a key component used in lithium-ion batteries will establish its first manufacturing operation in the United States in Lincoln County, creating 545 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest $140 million in the community of Denver, North Carolina.
Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed April as World Autism Month in North Carolina to raise awareness and recognize individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families and organizations working to support them.“People with autism spectrum disorder are a valued part of our communities, employers, and North Carolina as a whole,” said Governor Cooper. “All people deserve support and opportunities to succeed. We will continue to fight for fair treatment and inclusive environments for everyone in our state.”
Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced two appointments to the North Carolina District Court.“Judge Boger-Allen and Bryan Norris bring a variety of legal experience to the District Court bench and have served our state well over the years,” said Governor Cooper. “I’m grateful for their continued dedication to the people of North Carolina and I’m confident they will continue to serve our state with distinction in these new positions.”
Boviet Solar, a global renewable energy company, will create 908 new jobs in Pitt County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $294 million to locate its first North American solar panel manufacturing facility in the City of Greenville.“It’s great to welcome Boviet Solar to North Carolina,” said Governor Cooper. “This decision has proven yet again that North Carolina is a hub for clean energy, offering advanced manufacturers a skilled workforce, an excellent quality of life, and affordable communities to support its work in sustainability.”
Today, Governor Roy Cooper honored NASA Astronaut and North Carolina Native Christina Koch for her accomplishments and celebrated North Carolina’s STEM education programs and strong public schools. During the event, Governor Cooper presented NASA Astronaut Koch with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the state’s Highest Honorary Society. The Governor was joined by Congresswoman Deborah Ross and other elected officials, educators, scientists and a third grade class from The Exploris School – a public charter school in downtown Raleigh.
Today, Governor Roy Cooper released his recommended budget for FY 2024-2025, Securing North Carolina’s Future. The Governor’s plan would raise teacher pay by 8.5% and invest over $1 billion in public schools across North Carolina instead of more taxpayer-funded private school vouchers.
Innovative Construction Group, LLC, an off-site construction services company serving developers, general contractors, and professional builders, expects to establish a new manufacturing facility in Chatham County and the Town of Siler City. The company plans to make a capital investment of approximately $39.8 million which will create, they believe, as many as 157 jobs over the next five years.
Today, Governor Roy Cooper joined NASA Astronaut Christina Koch and Chancellor Harold Martin at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University to highlight North Carolina’s strong STEM public education programs and discuss how public education has supported their careers. Students from the award-winning NC A&T rocketry team and several departments including physics, chemistry, biology and others were in attendance to hear from Koch, the Governor and Chancellor Martin.
Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that EnergizeNC, North Carolina’s Solar for All coalition, has been selected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for $156 million in funding through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) grant program.
