Unfortunately, that’s not always what we have seen with ICE and Border Patrol Agents in Chicago and elsewhere around the country. The vast majority of people they have detained have no criminal convictions, and some are American citizens.

Today Governor Josh Stein will join the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources at the historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville for the 2025 North Carolina Awards. In addition to celebrating six North Carolina Award recipients, the Governor will recognize eight Helene Heroes. Proceeds from this year's North Carolina Awards will go to benefit Hurricane Helene relief. So far, nearly $200,000 have been raised to support Hurricane Helene recovery efforts through the North Carolina Community Foundation.
