The Governor declared a State of Emergency on Monday to speed preparations for Tropical Storm Debby’s arrival.The state is expected to experience intense rainfall starting Wednesday and continuing over the next few days, with some areas forecast to receive up to 15 inches of rain, plus gusty winds, and life-threatening inland flooding. The Governor urged residents to take precautions now and ahead of the storm.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency ahead of severe weather expected across the state. Tropical Storm Debby has the potential for life threatening flash flooding, riverine flooding, wind gusts up to 40 mph, coastal impacts and other effects. After making landfall, Hurricane Debby has now been downgraded to Tropical Storm Debby but still has the potential to have strong impacts on North Carolina.
