Amrep Manufacturing Company, a producer of waste collection trucks, will expand its operations, adding 170 jobs and investing more than $21 million in Rowan County, Governor Cooper announced today.“Amrep Manufacturing’s expansion in Rowan County validates our efforts to support home grown manufacturers, including a great quality of life, an ideal location, and a diverse, skilled workforce,” said Governor Cooper.
J&L Machine and Fabrication, a steel fabrication and machining provider, will create 33 new jobs in Gaston County, Governor Cooper announced today. The company will invest more than $2.1 million to expand its production capacity in the Town of Stanley.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, Governor Roy Cooper signed a Type I state disaster declaration for individual assistance for Gaston County and contiguous counties that suffered damage from two EF-1 tornadoes and severe weather on May 8, 2024. This declaration will make assistance available to Gaston County and surrounding counties.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper toured Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville to meet with base leadership and view ongoing military construction projects. During the visit, the Governor met with U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Ralph J. Rizzo, Jr., deputy commander for Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and other base leaders as well as several Marines to hear about current base operations and opportunities for the state to partner with Camp Lejeune to better support our military.
