Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed a Type I state disaster declaration for the City of Marion in McDowell County following damages from a severe rain event that led to flash flooding on May 18, 2024. This declaration will make state disaster assistance available in the form of public assistance grants to the eligible local governments located within the emergency area.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper visited Cabarrus Bilingual Preschool in Concord and visited multiple classrooms to see strong child care in action as well as learning and growing through engaging activities. The Governor was joined by child care advocates and local officials as he highlighted the urgent funding need for early childhood education and child care. Cabarrus Bilingual Preschool is a 5-star licensed child care center and NC Pre-K program provider operated by Families First.
This summer, North Carolina will pilot a first-of-its kind course to train and certify technicians in the installation and maintenance of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Excel Interior Door, LLC, a manufacturer of residential doors, will create at least 37 new jobs as it relocates its headquarters to Forsyth County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. Nucor Rebar Fabrication, a leading fabricator of concrete reinforcing steel, will create 25 new jobs and invest more than $20 million to establish a new rebar fabrication facility in Davidson County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.“It’s great when a home grown company chooses to expand in North Carolina, especially when it’s the largest steelmaker in America,” said Governor Cooper. “Nucor’s decision illustrates its confidence in our state’s workforce, transportation infrastructure, and supportive business environment that makes North Carolina the best state to do business.”
