Governor Roy Cooper has declared May 10 as State Employee Appreciation Day, and the week of May 7 – 13, 2017 as State Employee Recognition Week.

After proclaiming May 8-12 Teacher Appreciation Week, Governor Cooper is calling on the legislature to support his budget’s funding for school support personnel.

With many communities still recovering from Hurricane Matthew, Governor Roy Cooper today reminded North Carolinians to get ready for another hurricane season.

Governor Cooper’s Common Ground Solutions budget included $20 million to improve internet access and service to households and businesses in underserved areas of North Carolina. Of that $20 million, $14.5 million would create a grant program to help local governments partnering with private providers and utility cooperatives complete ‘last mile’ broadband projects.

Governor Roy Cooper has vetoed House Bill 467 and signed into law Senate Bill 131. 

In his budget proposal, Common Ground Solutions for North Carolina, Governor Cooper proposed giving teachers a direct annual stipend of $150 to offset out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies.
