This week, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein is leading the multi-state delegation at the Southeast United States (SEUS)/Japan Annual Joint Meeting in Tokyo, Japan. Governor Stein is joined by Department of Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley and EDPNC CEO Christopher Chung. The Governor will meet with Japanese business leaders and promote North Carolina as a top state for investment and partnership.
Today Governor Josh Stein announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has released additional funds to help North Carolinians get back to work in areas affected by Hurricane Helene.The new funds, totaling $4 million, represent the remaining portion of a $10 million Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant that the U.S. Department of Labor initially awarded to North Carolina in 2024 in the wake of Helene. The funds were part of an original request from the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) in October 2024.

Governor Josh Stein announced today that Ahold Delhaize USA, the leading grocery retail group known for brands such as Food Lion, will invest $860 million in the city of Burlington to establish a modern distribution center to serve its grocery brands along the East Coast. The project will initially create 120 jobs in Guilford County and eventually is expected to support more than 500 jobs at the facility in Burlington.

(NASDAQ: SOFI), a leading digital financial services company offering one-stop personal finance solutions, will create 225 jobs in Charlotte. The company will invest $3 million in Mecklenburg County to strategically expand its regional presence.

Today Governor Josh Stein released a statement highlighting the impacts of the federal government shutdown across North Carolina and urging leaders in Washington to return to the negotiating table.  
Governor Josh Stein today announced that the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 21 grant requests for local governments totaling $9,815,885. The grants include commitments creating a total of 758 jobs, 489 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects is expected to attract more than $179 million in private and public investment.
Today Governor Josh Stein announced MST Rebar Inc., a fiberglass rebar supplier, will create 83 new jobs in Bladen County. The company will invest more than $15.5 million to locate its first U.S. fiberglass rebar manufacturing facility in the town of Bladenboro.“North Carolina has the largest and most talented advanced manufacturing workforce in the Southeast  – and it’s a great place to live,” said Governor Josh Stein. “We are pleased to welcome MST Rebar to our state.”
Today Governor Josh Stein announced household appliance company Electrolux Consumer Products, Inc., will add 74 new jobs in Lenoir County. The company will invest more than $23.7 million to expand its Kinston dishwasher production facility and Manufacturing Center of Excellence for dish production in North America.
