Today, Governor Roy Cooper visited and toured the Kid Appeal Learning Center in High Point to highlight the NC Child Care Stabilization Grants.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper signed an Executive Order establishing the Commission on the Future of Public Universities to advise the Office of the Governor and the public on the status of public higher education governance in North Carolina and on strategies to successfully position the state’s universities and colleges to meet the needs of future students.

Governor Roy Cooper visited and toured the Fayetteville State University Early Childhood Learning Center today to highlight the NC Child Care Stabilization Grants. To date, more than $655 million has been distributed to 4,200 child care facilities across the state to support and retain the early educator workforce.

Governor Roy Cooper toured Martin Millennium Academy in Edgecombe County and delivered supplies collected from the Governor’s School Supply Drive today.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper called on Republican legislators to waive state income taxes on student loans that have been forgiven. The General Assembly passed legislation to ensure that North Carolinians did not have to pay income tax on Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans that were forgiven.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper toured Allenbrook Elementary School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and delivered supplies collected from the Governor’s School Supply Drive. Supplies, including paper, pens, pencils, notebooks and sanitizing wipes, are being delivered to schools across the state as part of the annual drive.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper toured Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) and met with students in various STEM-related programs, including the Next Generation Black STEM Teacher Network program and WSSU’s Astrobotany Lab.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper directed $14.5 million in new federal funding to further support postsecondary students in completing their degree or credential and to support beginning teachers as they start a new academic year.
