Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company, North Carolina’s largest recycled paper producer, will open a new plant in Burke County, creating 42 jobs, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.

Governor Roy Cooper has proclaimed Aug. 12-18 as Community Health Center Week in North Carolina, noting that more than 500,000 patients, most of whom are uninsured, are served through 42 centers serving 85 of the state’s 100 counties. Health centers work to reduce health disparities and improve health for individuals and families.|

Governor Roy Cooper has signed a proclamation designating the week of August 5-11, 2018, as American Wind Week in North Carolina. The proclamation encourages North Carolinians to learn about and celebrate the benefits of wind energy for the Tar Heel state. 

Governor Cooper released the following statement after the legislature overrode vetoes on HB 3 and SB 3:

The Triad area will get $3.2 million for more job training opportunities in Alamance, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham counties, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The state funds have been awarded to the Eastern Triad Workforce Initiative, a public-private partnership that will provide apprenticeship and on-the-job training.
