Today Governor Josh Stein released the following statement on the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade: 
Today Governor Stein visited Bethel to discuss a new grant awarded to the Pitt County town to support sustainable housing reconstruction. Bethel was one of four towns – including Elm City, La Grange, and Nashville – to receive $950,000 in Community Development Block Grants to improve housing and public spaces, helping families build stability and supporting long-term economic growth.

Today Governor Stein declared a State of Emergency as North Carolina prepares for the impacts of a major winter storm. On Thursday, January 22, at 11:15 a.m., Governor Stein will hold a media briefing to provide updates on the status of storm preparations.
Today in western North Carolina, Governor Josh Stein highlighted ongoing efforts to build a safer and stronger North Carolina. In Clay County, the Governor joined local officials for a roundtable discussion on how the opioid settlement funds he won during his tenure as Attorney General are being used to support treatment and recovery services. Later in the day, he joined the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police in Cherokee for its 50th Annual Training Conference.
