More financial relief is on its way to North Carolina commercial fishermen hit hard by Hurricane Florence, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. 

North Carolina’s juvenile crime rate fell to its lowest point since the state began recording juvenile crime data – 16.18 complaints per every 1,000 kids – according to the latest report from the Department of Public Safety’s Juvenile Justice section. 

In a roundtable discussion with Governor Roy Cooper and Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy Cohen, parents shared the pain of losing children to the opioid epidemic and urged lawmakers to expand Medicaid to provide access to treatment. 

To honor the progress made in the LGBTQ rights movement, Gov. Cooper proclaimed June as LGBTQ Pride month in North Carolina. 

Today, at the opening of the 2019 Opioid Summit, Governor Roy Cooper highlighted the state’s progress in addressing the opioid epidemic over the last two years and launched the updated Opioid Action Plan 2.0 to continue to combat this issue in North Carolina.

In a series of events and releases this week, Governor Cooper will encourage North Carolinians to continue to work together to combat the opioid crisis and update the state on progress made since he launched the Opioid Action Plan in 2017.

Additional rains and flooding will continue to impact North Carolina today and into this evening, Governor Roy Cooper cautioned Monday, and urged drivers to be safe and avoid floodwaters.

Governor Roy Cooper is encouraging North Carolinians to stay vigilant and pay attention to local forecasts as more bands of heavy showers and storms are predicted through Sunday evening.
