Last week Governor Josh Stein presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine to 104-year-old Joe Balogh, a pilot and WWII veteran, for his exceptional service to his country. May is Military Appreciation Month, and Governor Stein was proud to mark the occasion with Major Balogh.  

Today Governor Josh Stein released the following statement in commemoration of Memorial Day:

Earlier this month, 20 people and two organizations representing 21 counties received the State of North Carolina’s highest award for volunteer service: the Governor’s Medallion Award. The award is presented annually by the N.C.

Today Governor Josh Stein proclaimed May 4-10 as State Employee Recognition Week and Wednesday May 7 as State Employee Appreciation Day.  

Today, Governor Josh Stein inducted eight North Carolinians into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for their lifelong careers in public service. He also presented the Laurel Wreath to two North Carolinians who have made outstanding contributions to sports or athletics. 

Today, Governor Josh Stein, North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) Secretary Pam Cashwell, and North Carolina Department of Enviornmental Quality (DEQ) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day at Eno River State Park in Durham.

Today, the African American Heritage Commission and the Legislative Black Caucus joined Governor Josh Stein in celebrating Black entrepreneurs at a Black History Month reception.  

Over the weekend, Governor Josh Stein traveled to western North Carolina for a weekend of service in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy of service.
