Today, Governor Josh Stein announced the following judicial appointments:Judge Stephen C. Stokes to the Superior Court for Judicial District 14A, serving part of Cumberland County. Stokes is filling the vacancy created after Judge Claire Hill retired.

Today, Governor Josh Stein announced the appointment of William “Bill” Jones to the District Court for Judicial District 43, serving Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon, and Swain Counties. Jones is filling the vacancy created after Judge Roy Wijewickrama was appointed to the Superior Court in November 2024.

Today, following the resignation of Utilities Commission Chair Charlotte Mitchell, Governor Josh Stein appointed Floyd B. McKissick Jr. to carry out the remainder of Mitchell’s term, which goes through June 30, 2029. Governor Stein also appointed Steve Levitas to fill McKissick’s position through June 30, 2025. 
Today, Governor Josh Stein announced the appointment of Thomas Anglim as District Attorney for Prosecutorial District Two, which covers Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrell, and Washington counties. Anglim is replacing Seth H. Edwards, who was elected Superior Court judge.“Tom currently serves as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in District Two, and he brings decades of prosecutorial experience to the role,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I am grateful for his willingness to continue serving the people of our state and his district as District Attorney.”
Today, ten members of Governor Josh Stein’s cabinet were sworn into office.“My cabinet secretaries are ready to hit the ground running to make North Carolina safer and stronger,” said Governor Josh Stein. “I am grateful that this talented team has agreed to serve our state, and I look forward to working together to make our home state an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”The following secretaries were sworn into the Governor’s Cabinet:
